Green Tea Diet ((SHARE ))
Starting each morning with a cup of green tea can help you lose weight.  Green tea certainly isn't the magic bullet of weight loss, but it is one of the healthiest and best diet food or drink you can add to your daily routine.
Green tea helps boost your metabolism.        You can burn 80 extra calories a day simply by adding green tea to your diet.  It is a substance called catechins that is responsible for the weight loss effects of green tea.
In a Japanese study, men were split into two groups.  They were similar in body size and instructed to eat the same meals.  One group drank oolong tea that had been fortified with green tea extract.  This tea contained 690 milligrams of catechins.  The other group only had 22 milligrams of catechins in their non-fortified oolong tea.
This study went on for three months.        At the end, the group who drank the oolong tea with the extract lost an average of 5.3 pounds and decreased their LDL cholesterol.  Those who drank the regular oolong tea only lost an average of 2.9 pounds.
If you don't like the taste of green tea, you can buy green tea extract to get the catechins that you desire.  Be sure to read the ingredients and label before you purchase any supplement.       Green tea is light in caffeine when compared to a drink like coffee, but since there is caffeine, don't count green tea as part of your daily water intake.  Instead, drink a little extra water to offset the effect of the green tea's caffeine.
Drink as much tea as you are comfortable drinking.  General recommendations are that you should drink at least four cups a day, but you will still get benefits if you drink less than that.
